Intended service capabilities
Five services designed to extend access to specialist care
Each Vitelo service is described as an intended capability. The services are designed to work individually or in combination, depending on the clinical need and the context of the patient.
Vitelo Digital Clinics
The core Vitelo model: a specialist consultation conducted in a single visit, in which a local doctor examines the patient in real time under the live direction of a remote specialist.
In a Vitelo Digital Clinic, a patient is seen by a qualified local doctor who conducts a physical examination at the point of care. The examination is observed live by a remote specialist via a secure clinical video connection. The specialist directs the consultation, orders bedside investigations, interprets results in real time, and reaches a diagnosis and treatment plan before the consultation ends. The patient does not need to travel to a specialist centre, and a follow-up appointment is not required to receive a diagnosis.
How this differs from conventional care
Conventional specialist referral pathways typically require a patient to wait for an initial appointment, attend a clinic, undergo investigations, and then return for results. The Vitelo Digital Clinic model is designed to compress this into a single visit.
Suitable for
Patients who require specialist assessment but for whom travel to a specialist centre is impractical, costly, or delayed. Referrers who wish to provide patients with timely specialist access.
Vitelo 24/7 GP Call Centre
Round-the-clock access to a qualified general practitioner by telephone or video, intended to provide timely clinical assessment and advice outside standard clinic hours.
The Vitelo 24/7 GP Call Centre is intended to provide patients with access to a qualified general practitioner at any time of day or night, by telephone or video call. The service is designed for patients who require a doctor's clinical opinion outside standard clinic hours, whether for reassurance, triage, or initial management advice. The GP is a registered medical practitioner. All clinical decisions are made by a qualified clinician.
How this differs from conventional care
Many patients in the markets Vitelo intends to serve have limited access to out-of-hours GP services. The call centre is designed to provide a reliable, qualified clinical point of contact at any hour.
Suitable for
Patients requiring clinical advice or triage outside standard hours. Insurers and employers seeking to provide a clinical helpline benefit.
Vitelo Virtual Nurse
An AI-assisted agent designed to take a structured clinical history from a patient before a consultation, supporting the efficiency of the Vitelo Digital Clinic.
The Vitelo Virtual Nurse is intended to take a structured clinical history from a patient in advance of a Vitelo Digital Clinic consultation. The Virtual Nurse uses AI tools to guide the history-taking process, organise the information gathered, and present it to the clinical team before the consultation begins. This is intended to allow the local doctor and remote specialist to focus the consultation on examination and investigation rather than history-taking, improving efficiency and clinical quality.
How this differs from conventional care
History-taking in a conventional consultation can consume a significant proportion of the available time. By completing this stage before the consultation, the Vitelo model is designed to make better use of the specialist's time and the patient's visit.
AI tools support the Virtual Nurse in structuring and organising the clinical history. AI does not replace clinical judgement. A qualified clinician reviews all clinical information and is responsible for every clinical decision.
Suitable for
Patients attending a Vitelo Digital Clinic. The Virtual Nurse is an integral part of the Vitelo consultation pathway.
Vitelo Remote Monitoring
A service intended to allow patients to record clinical measurements at home, with readings reviewed by the care team to support the management of long-term conditions.
Vitelo Remote Monitoring is designed to allow patients to record clinical measurements — such as blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, or heart rate — at home using appropriate devices. Readings are transmitted to the Vitelo care team for review. The service is intended to support the ongoing management of long-term conditions, post-consultation follow-up, and the early identification of clinical deterioration. All readings are reviewed by a qualified clinician.
How this differs from conventional care
Remote monitoring is intended to reduce the need for patients to attend a clinic for routine measurements, and to provide the care team with a more complete picture of a patient's condition over time.
Suitable for
Patients with long-term conditions requiring regular clinical measurement. Patients following a Vitelo Digital Clinic consultation where ongoing monitoring has been recommended.
Vitelo Home Visiting
A hands-on clinical review conducted at the patient's home by a qualified clinician, intended for patients for whom attendance at a clinic is not practicable.
The Vitelo Home Visiting service is intended to provide patients with a clinical review at their home, conducted by a qualified clinician. The service is designed for patients who are unable to attend a clinic due to mobility, frailty, or other circumstances. The visiting clinician conducts a physical examination, may perform bedside investigations, and communicates findings to the wider Vitelo care team. Where appropriate, the home visit may be conducted in conjunction with a Vitelo Digital Clinic consultation.
How this differs from conventional care
For patients who cannot travel to a clinic, home visiting provides a clinical assessment that would otherwise be unavailable. The integration with the Vitelo Digital Clinic model allows a remote specialist to be involved in the assessment even when the patient is at home.
Suitable for
Patients who are unable to attend a clinic. Elderly or frail patients. Patients requiring post-procedure or post-discharge review at home.
Vitelo is not an emergency service. If you or someone in your care requires urgent or emergency medical attention, contact your local emergency services immediately.
